Subject Matter

Jacob recieves Isaac's Blessing : At extreme right, a female figure, probably Rebecca, mother of Jacob and Esau, holds her palms together, perhaps in prayer. In the center, the seated figure of blind Isaac (to the left) extends his hands to bless Jacob. At the right of the center scene, Jacob extends his hands covered with a pelt so that he can successfully impersonate his brother Esau. On the right side of the capital, Esau returns from the hunt, his prey over his shoulder. See Genesis 27: 1-30
