Description

Mitres of the ancient regular abbots of Saint Denis. One is has a background of pearls, enriched with many jewels mounted in gold. On the other one, strewn with fleurs-de-lis, and covered with seed-pearls, can be read the words Petrus abbas me fecit. This refers to Pierre d'Auteuil, whe became abbot of Saint-Denis in 1221.
