Description

Images of vermeil, one of which represents the Holy Virgin, holding an enamel fleur-de-lis in her right hand. The other is of Saint John the Evangelist carrying a tooth of the Holy Apostle. These statues were the gift of Queen Jeanne d'Evreux. On the fleur-de-lis these words can be read in letters of gold: Des cheveux de Nostre-Dame. And on the base of the other one, Cette Image donna ceans Madame la Royne Jehanne d'Evreux, Royne de France & Navarre compaigne du Roy Charles le 28. jour d"Avril l'an 1339.

Subsequent History

The St. John statue was melted down in 1590.

The Virgin statue was sent to the Louvre on December 5, 1793 where it still remains.
