Texts

Description Vase made of rock crystal on decorated with gold and jewels. On it are written these two verses

Hoc vas sponsa dedit Anor Regi Ludvico,
Mitodolus avo, mibi Rex sanctsque Sugerus

This shows us that that Queen Eleanor (of Aquitaine) gave this vase to King Louis VII, her husband, who presented it to Abbot Suger.

Félibien, pages 543. Translated by Jane Vadnal.
