Preliminary Notes

• Generaly dated ca. 1150, during the episcopate of Henry of Blois
• Made of Tournai "marble,", and generally thought to have been imported after the sculptures were completed
• One of a group of similar fonts- authorities differ on the number of fonts in this group- but it usually is thought to be about ten
• Subject matter except north side, which containd roundels with single doves, and one figure which may be a salimander
